Island Hopping at Samal

Island Hopping at Samal

“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” – Anonymous

Island Garden City of Samal, also known as IGaCoS, is just a 30-minute to an hour boat ride from its neighboring city- Davao. This is the number one destination if you want to enjoy white sand and crystal clear water. It is well known for its resorts, falls and caves. The best thing about this is that it's not that pricey to go there.

It was a bright Saturday (March 4) when we went to Talicud Island, Samal and experienced an island hopping. Together with Wayph, we explored the wonders of this marvelous island. Though this place is just an hour away from where I live, I could say that I haven't explored the whole island before. This was actually my first time to do it. I've been so some resorts but most of them is facing Davao port where the water is kind of greasy. Island hopping means going around the island and that makes the trip exciting!

Talicud island is a perfect getaway since it is located far from the port (where the water is usually greasy from oil). On our way there, life vests were provided to ensure the safety of the passengers. If you want to go snorkeling, snorkels are available at P 150 for the whole day. I advise trying it out.  I just brought myself and my camera. Mind you this island is Instagram-worthy.

Wishing Island
Davao Bound (5:00 pm)

How did I get in there:
From the Davao city proper, I went to Sta Ana Wharf, which is just located next to Magsaysay Park. When you reach the place, lots of boats are ready to be rented. You can also contact Wayph for a hassle-free and affordable trip. Wayph also offers tour packages to Palawan, Bohol, Boracay, Cebu and lot more.

This is where you can see the simplicity of life. This island is far from the noises and traffic in the city. Nature at its finest! Most of the people living here has simple houses and are fishermen. I wonder how it is like when you are greeted by the ocean's breeze in the morning.

Fishing as the main livelihood.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort.

Lunch were also served during the trip (depending on the type of package that you avail). We ate at the boat while enjoying the ocean view and cold breeze. Food tastes generally better when you are at the ocean.

The best part of the trip is when I finally jumped to the water. I don't know how to swim though, thanks for the life vest that keeps me floating. The water is really refreshing and cold. The waves are generally huge and the sand at the shore is tricky. You need to be extra careful because it may be deeper than it seems.

I was mesmerized with this island. This getaway has made me appreciate my city and its neighboring places. Our country has lots of world-class beautiful places to offer. Can't wait to try this again!

Truly, it is more fun in the Philippines.

Salty skin, Crystal clear water, Fresh air & Majestic view = Life
